Stóra Dímun is one of the most isolated islands in the Faroe Islands, home to just one farming family – Eva and Jógvan Jón, the eighth generation to live there. With no roads or harbor, the island can only be reached by helicopter or boat.

Your adventure begins departing from Vágar Airport with a stunning helicopter flight offering aerial views of Koltur, Hestur, Sandoy, and the surrounding seascape. Once you land on Stóra Dímun, your hosts will guide you on a walk across the island’s dramatic terrain – past steep cliffs, open fields, and bird colonies – while sharing stories of daily life with 500 sheep and over a thousand years of history.

A highlight of the tour is Kleivin, the historic cliff path that was once the island’s only access point. You’ll also enjoy panoramic views of Suðuroy and Lítla Dímun, before returning to the farmhouse for a warm Faroese welcome, local refreshments, and perhaps a taste of homemade wine.

This unique adventure takes place on Thursdays from 13:00 to 15:00, between June 5 and August 28, 2025.
