Streedagh Beach is an often-missed paradise located in Sligo. Its Green Coast Award for water quality and rural atmosphere make it a desirable destination for walkers, kite surfers, and horse riders alike. Fascinatingly, the beach is also known as the location of three Spanish Armada shipwrecks that washed ashore in 1588. Other attractions include Gleniff Horseshoe Drive, Glencar Waterfall, Classiebawn Castle, and an Armada shipwreck site that can be accessed via a 3km linear route. Swimming is recommended for experienced swimmers only due to dangerous undercurrents; however, lifeguards are on duty during summer months. Streedagh Beach is definitely worth checking out for its breathtaking views, excellent swimming and surfing conditions, and fascinating historical relics.
