As you road trip closer into the heart of the Flinders Ranges, don’t miss The Devil's Peak Hike located near the town of Quorn. On this hike, you will ascend 697 meters to the summit along a 2.4 km return trail. This track is a bit of a challenge, super short but with an intense incline. It ramps up in intensity and features some exhilarating rock scrambling that will definitely get your heart racing. But don’t let that scare you; I loved this trail as it felt like a great way to get my body moving and prepared for some of the longer hikes in the Flinders Ranges National Park.

Keep your eyes peeled for fascinating geological quirks and ancient fossil impressions embedded in the rocks. And don’t be surprised if you catch sight of kangaroos or other native wildlife scurrying about. I encountered a fair amount of other hikers on this trail and learned that it’s a popular walk for school kids on excursions. If a group of 20 twelve-year-olds can tackle it, I’m sure anyone determined enough can do it too. This area of Australia is hot, and the trail used to be closed during summer due to fire danger; however, it is now open all year round. Just be sure to bring plenty of water and be prepared. The panoramic views from the summit are spectacular and extremely Instagram-worthy, so lace up your boots, bring your camera, and enjoy the adventure of tackling Devil’s Peak!
