Tucked away just off the main road near the charming town of Djúpivogur, Djúpavogskörin Hot Springs is one of East Iceland’s best-kept secrets. This natural hot spring offers a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and fjords – especially captivating on clear sunny days or blanketed in winter snow.
While small in size, the pool can comfortably fit 6–7 people, making it an ideal stop for a rejuvenating soak in nature. It was built by locals as a community space to enjoy the therapeutic thermal waters and spend time with friends and family.
There are no formal changing facilities, but a convenient wooden deck allows you to change without stepping into the mud. There’s also a clothes stand behind the pool to hang your belongings.
What makes this place special?
Hidden from view behind a rocky hill, it remains quiet and uncrowded.
The surroundings – lush moss-covered fjords and panoramic views – create a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing.
A small deck by the pool lets you sit, sip a drink, or simply take in the view.
Though it’s off the beaten path, Djúpavogskörin is absolutely worth the detour – a slice of Icelandic tranquility that offers a true escape from the everyday.
