Our Favourite Tours & Activites to Book in Canadian Rockies

There's a lot to choose from when it comes to tours and activities that you can do in Rockies. With limited time and so many options, it can be tough to know where to start.

To hopefully make it a bit easier for you, these are some of our absolute favorite tours that we’ve personally done and think really stand out:

1. Banff Gondola

The views from the top of Sulphur Mountain are absolutely amazing any time of a year. Banff Gondola is the best way to get 360° summit views without having to hike, and we recommend it no matter the season!

2. Maligne Lake Cruise

Maligne Lake is Jasper’s most iconic lake, and taking a cruise is the easiest way to see the famous Spirit Island. Lake Minnewanka Cruise is beautiful too, but if you can only do one, make it Maligne.

3. Ice Walk on Athabasca Glacier

In our opinion, glacier walk is the best way to experience the Athabasca Glacier. So if you're capable, choose this over the Ice Explorer buses. Not only it is a better and more immersive experience, but it's also a more sustainable way to explore the glacier.

4. Via Ferrata at Mt. Norquay

One of the coolest ways to experience Banff (altough not for those scared of heights), via ferrata at Mt. Norquay is a fun adventurous activity somewhere between scrambling and rock climbing.

There are multiple routes for all abilities and all tours are guided, so you don’t have to worry if you’ve never tried via ferrata before.

5. Rafting on the Kicking Horse River

You'll have to drive to Golden, BC for this, but Kicking Horse River offers one of the best whitewater experiences in Canada!

Different sections of the river offer different classes of whitewater, so there are various tours and it's a really good time. We went with Hydra River Guides twice and it was always great!

6. Dog Sledding in Lake Louise
