Where to spend your time
Foodietravellersguide
Lisbon, Portugal
If you’re in Lisbon for a short amount of time, stick to these neighbourhoods – each one offers a completely different feel:
Alfama – historic, maze-like streets, viewpoints and some of the most traditional restaurants
Baixa – flat, central and easy to navigate (rare for Lisbon)
Chiado – cafés, bakeries and shopping
Bairro Alto – lively at night with bars and restaurants
Mouraria – more local and multicultural, known as the birthplace of Fado
Tip: stay central if possible. Lisbon is spread across hills, so where you stay makes a big difference to how easy your trip feels.
If you want to eat well and explore easily, stick to these neighbourhoods.
