The Akureyri Christmas House is a popular destination for visitors in North Iceland around the holiday season. The shop and tourist attraction is full of festive trinkets including decorations, food, music, artworks, books, toys and ornaments. Inside, there are special Icelandic Christmas products to choose from such as sculptures of Gryla, the child-eating giantess, and trolls that represent thirteen mischievous Yule Lads. The shop is surrounded by various buildings, such as a ticket tower with the world's largest advent calendar, an apple shed, and a Christmas Garden with a miniature replica of an Icelandic turf church. Visitors can also find the Wishing Well of Unborn Children to make a wish for future generations. From Reykjavík, it is a five hour drive to reach this magical destination filled with Christmas spirit and fun.
