It is definitely worth investing in a pair of Binoculars, you can purchase them from Walmart and collect from the Bozeman store when you arrive.

• 8×42 or 10×42 binoculars are ideal.

  • 8× gives a wider field of view and is steadier.

  • 10× offers more reach but requires steadier hands.

• If you plan on spending lots of time in Lamar or Hayden Valleys, a spotting scope on a tripod is a major advantage.

• Knowing likely habitats (open meadows, riverbanks, forest edges) increases your success.
