1 week on Vancouver Island

Welcome to this 7 day itinerary to travel beautiful Vancouver Island. This journey is anticipated to start in Vancouver and ideally you take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (Nanaimo). Please reserve the ferry ahead of time as it can be busy. (https://www.bcferries.com/) The first stay is quiet the drive so I suggest you start the day early.

After arriving in Departure Bay its time to head towards Tofino. The drive there is beautiful but first you have to stop at the Goats on the Roof Market where you can spot these cute animals on the roof of a unique supermarket/cafe/restaurant. Here you can also stock up on snacks for the drive ahead.

If you are feeling hungry I would suggest stopping in Port Alberni at Twin City Brewing. They have tasty beer and good pizza.

Not far from the town of Port Alberni is the Hole in the Wall. Its a short hike from the parking lot. Check out the trail here: https://www.alltrails.com/ar/trail/canada/british-columbia/port-alberni-hole-in-the-wall

Its a cool natural phenomenon and worth a visit.

If you want another stop on your way to Tofino and its summer time I would suggest stopping at Taylor River. The access point is right next to a big parking lot and the water is so clear and beautiful but also very cold. Also a fun spot to go paddle boarding if you brought it.

After another hour or so of driving you will finally reach Tofino where I recommend staying for at least 2 days. One of my favourite places to stay is Pacific Sands Resort right on the water in Cox Bay a little outside of town. Falling asleep here to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach is truly magical.

For dinner I recommend Shelter Restaurant which is directly at the water. You can see the sun go down over the beautiful landscape of Tofino right from the dinner table and they have excellent food and drink options. My go to spot when I am in Tofino.
