Tropicana Hostel in Antigua is a very popular and social option if you are on a budget. The pro to this hostel is the cheap price, rooftop volcano views, and discounts for the Acatenango tour.

The cons are the triple bunks. If you get a top bunk you have to club a huge ladder all the way to the top. I personally hate triple bunks becuase it means there is always a line for the bathroom and noise in general.

Buttt I did stay here for some of my time in Antigua because it was very social and everyone went out together at night. They also offer the cheapest volcano tour in Antigua so many backpackers flock here for the ease of staying in the hostel who hosts the tour. It makes it fun to hike with fellow travelers rather than a random group from an outside company.
