Elba is famous for its beaches, but the island also has historic villages, mountain landscapes, fortifications and a long mining tradition.

In the east, the former iron-mining areas around Rio Marina reveal a striking landscape shaped by minerals and industrial history. Inland destinations such as Marciana and Rio nell’Elba offer a very different atmosphere from the coastal resorts.

You can also explore hiking and cycling routes, visit historic Portoferraio or head towards Monte Capanne for wide views over the Tuscan Archipelago.
