The Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Station is the second-largest geothermal power plant in Iceland, located near Þingvellir National Park. It started operating in 1990 and produces around 120 MW of electricity, along with providing hot water for heating needs. The station serves about half of Reykjavík's space heating and hot water requirements. With its 21 wells and a max depth of 2,000 meters, Nesjavellir is a key player in Iceland's renewable energy scene, keeping things nice and toasty for the locals.

The geothermal exhibition is open every day:

  • Nov – March: 09:00-16:00

  • April – October: 09.00 – 17.00

Price for adult is ISK 2,115
