Yufuin Floral Village in Oita, which I saw on Instagram (not going to lie) and heard would be cheesy and not worth the trip - but people were wrong - is like stepping into a fairy tale with its charming English-inspired architecture and petting zoos filled with adorable animals like owls, rabbits, and goats. You can explore quaint cottage-style stores (there's an Insta-famous Ghibli-themed store), interact with the animals, and eat a bunch of great street food. The whole city of Yufuin itself is beautiful with great shopping and interesting places like where you stick your feet in a tank full of sucker fish. The village offers a magical escape from the hustle and bustle of city life - a perfect place off the main tourist spots. Easily accessible by bus from Beppu or, even better, by train from Fukuoka.
