112 is the number to call in case of an emergency.

There is also the 112 Iceland app that you can download which also allows you to share your GPS coordinates with emergency services.

There are hospitals and emergency care clinics along the Ring Road, but are located in the larger towns. Always call 112 in the case of a real emergency.

Download the Safetravel.is app (un by ICE-SAR — The Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue).

For minor emergencies or illness, visit a local healthcare center along the Ring Road, usually located in the nearest town (same goes for pharmacies).

Check weather and road conditions daily. Vedur.is and Road.is are reliable websites to monitor these conditions. The Windy app is also helpful.

Cells service is generally reliable along the Ring Road, but can be limited in remote areas, so download an offline map before setting out each day.
