Castle Stalker sits on a tiny islet off Port Appin and is privately owned, so if you want to land you must book a guided boat trip with the owner or a local operator in advance because casual shore crossings are not possible. There are no facilities on the island and tours are short, so wear sturdy shoes, a windproof layer and expect steep stairs and uneven footing; trips can be cancelled in poor weather. If you prefer to stay dry, you can still get excellent photos from the shore at Port Appin where there is parking and a short walk to the viewpoint.
