Getting Around

Rent a Car - the most flexible and convenient way to discover Mallorca’s hidden beaches, mountain villages and rural areas. I recommend renting a car through booking.com and taking full insurance, unless your credit card already covers car rental insurance. Roads are in good condition, but some can be narrow, especially in the Tramuntana mountains or historic towns. If you do rent a car, it’s good to know that parking, especially in high season, can be a little challenging. In cities and beach towns, you’ll find a mix of street parking and public car parks. When parking on the street, parking spots will have the following lines:

Blue lines - paid parking (usually around €1.50-€2 per hour)

White lines - free (rare in busy areas)

Public garages - around €15-€25 per day

Green lines - resident parking only, don’t park here

Bonus Tip: arrive early to secure spots in popular areas and always check local signs for time limits.

Scooters & E-Bikes - great for short distances and coastal areas, easy to park and a fun, breezy way to explore Mallorca.

Public Transport - Mallorca has a reliable bus network connecting Palma with towns and popular beaches. The scenic vintage train from Palma to Sóller is also worth a ride. Service to remote areas may be limited on weekends or evenings and this is of course the least flexible but also least expensive way to get around the island.

Taxis & Ride Apps - taxis are not always easy to find outside the main towns. Uber can be used in Palma and nearby.
