Vereda do Larano is one of Madeira’s most scenic coastal hikes, traversing dramatic cliffs between Machico and Porto da Cruz. The trail offers uninterrupted views of the Atlantic, rugged green mountains, and sheer drops into the ocean below. It’s moderately challenging due to its length and exposure but well worth it for the sweeping vistas and peaceful, less‑crowded atmosphere. Many hikers combine this route with a visit to Porto da Cruz for food and views at the end of the trek.
