Description:
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is often called “Iceland in Miniature” because it has a little bit of everything Iceland is famous for — volcanoes, lava fields, glaciers, waterfalls, black sand beaches, fishing villages, and dramatic cliffs. At the tip of the peninsula lies Snæfellsjökull National Park, home to the glacier-capped volcano made famous in Jules Verne’s novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. Visitors can explore charming towns like Stykkishólmur and Arnarstapi, see Kirkjufell Mountain, walk along Djúpalónssandur beach, and spot seabirds on towering sea cliffs. It’s a perfect day trip from Reykjavík but also worth staying overnight to explore more slowly.

Price:
Driving around Snæfellsnes is free, with no entrance fees to the natural attractions. Parking is generally free as well. Guided day tours from Reykjavík typically cost $120–150 USD per person, while multi-day tours that include Snæfellsnes and the Westfjords may cost more.
