What you'll do
You are planning to spend a day or two in Reykjavík, and want to make the most of it? Check out this itinerary with the most interesting things in Reykjavík. From sightseeing spots, to restaurants and hotels: it's all in there.
Day 1
Day one is all about different tours you can do in Reykjavik. Day two will show you my favorite sightseeing spots, restaurants and more!
IcelandCover Outdoor Clothing Rental

Outdoor clothing rental
I love the idea of renting out outdoor clothes! Iceland has often a very different climate than people are used to in their home country, or they go on more outdoorsy adventures in Iceland than they usually would go on.
So in stead of buying a whole wardrobe, you can also just rent clothes! It's eco-friendly, it's easy, it's super convenient. And it will also safe you a ton of space in your luggage which you can use for other things (or which allows you to just travel with hand luggage)!
Use the code "elisainiceland" for 10% discount.
FlyOver Iceland
туры
FlyOver Iceland
This place is perfect in case you don't have time to travel around the whole country, but you still want to see a lot, or if the weather is really bad but you still want to see some beautiful sights. Or if you like the feeling of flying and want to experience it over some Icelandic glaciers!
But it is also fun if you are in the city and just want to do something else beside shop and eat. So check this place out if you have time!
Lava Show
туры
Lava Show
As you might know, there are several (active) volcano's in Iceland. You will see cooled down lava all over the place, but at this show they recreate a volcanic eruption by superheating real lava and pouring it into a showroom full of people.
This is the only show in the world that does that! There's two location in Iceland to see this show (Reykjavík and Vík), so you can choose which would work best in your schedule.
This is the perfect activity for a rainy (or windy) day.
If you do the Premium experience in Reykjavík, you'll get a drink before the show, balcony seats, a backstage tour afterwards and a little lava present.
Perlan
туры
Perlan
You'll see "The Pearl" from all over Reykjavík, so you can't miss it. This glass dome is located at the edge of the city.
It is the ideal place to visit on a rainy day. Inside Perlan there are several exhibitions about Icelandic nature. There's a manmade icecave tunnel, there's info about the history of flora and fauna in Iceland. There's the viewing point on top of the building where you'll have a view over Reykjavík. And there's a show in the planetarium about the northern lights.
I really enjoyed it and think it's also a perfect place to go with kids. There is so much to see and do, so there is something fun for everyone.
Sky Lagoon

Sky Lagoon
At the Sky Lagoon you can relax, enjoy the warm water and the view. There are 3 options to choose from, but I would go for the "Pure" package. The seven-step ritual is what makes this lagoon special, so you don't want to miss that one.
Kex Hostel Reykjavik

Kex Hostel Reykjavik
The very first night I ever spend in Iceland, I spend in this hostel. And I really liked it. The hostel is build in an old biscuit factory and that is why it is called Kex (Icelandic for biscuit).
It is a super cozy place and they organize a lot of interesting things: They organize live music nights, you can watch sports games there, they host pub quizzes, and they eve n have knitting nights!
Reykjavik Domes

Reykjavik Domes
If there's one thing you need to know about me: I love domes. So clearly I think sleeping at Reykjavík domes is a good idea as well :)
And of course there's also a hot tub next to the domes.

Blue Car Rental
If you book through my link (below) you'll get a 5% discount on your car rental!
Blue Car Rental is right at Keflavík Airport, so you can pick up your car immediately after landing.
In case you are driving around Iceland in summer, you really only need a 4x4 by when you go into the highlands (on the F-roads). Other than that, you will be fine with a regular 2x2 car.
In winter you actually also don't really need a 4x4, but I personally feel more comfortable in one when there is a lot of snow or ice. So I would recommend taking a 4x4 that time of year. But if you are used to snow and feel fine in a regular car, that is fine as well. And in winter, all cars in Iceland (both regular and 4x4) have spikes in their tires, so you will have a lot more grip on the road when it is icy.
