My 10 favorite tours in Iceland

This is my personal list. Of course there are many, many other tours to choose from and there is something fun for everyone. Check out this free itinerary with all the tours I would recommend in Iceland.

1. Paragliding - True Adventure Vík

I absolutely loved this tour. Especially because it is such a unique thing to do. Flying along the cliffs in Vík and seeing the birds soaring next to you and the horses running around beneath you was such a magical experience. I dream of doing it again!

2. Horseback riding - Stóri Kambur, Snæfellsness

You can go horseback riding in many different locations in Iceland and this is my favorite way to see new parts of the country. I've made a free itinerary for all the horse lovers out there with all of my favorite riding tours. But this is my number one:

3. Whale Watching - Árskógssandur

Seeing some of the biggest animals in the world close by is such a magical experience. So if you can, go and do a whale watching tour. The best tours (in my humble opinion) are in Eyjafjördur in the north (so not in Húsavík where many people plan to go). If you use the code ELISA you'll get a 10% discount on this tour:

4. Puffin Tour - Ingólfshöfði

You don't necessarily need to o on a tour to see puffins, but this tour was so much fun and the views were so amazing! It would be a shame to miss this opportunity if you are in the area

5. Kayaking - Jökulsárlón

Kayaking on the glacier lagoon is a real adventure. And you might be joined by some curious seals. I always love visiting this place and seeing the icebergs from the water makes them even more impressive.

6. Snorkeling - Silfra

Snorkeling between the tectonic plates might not be on your bucket list yet, but it should be. The underwater colors are so vivid and gorgeous and it's crazy how far you can see in these clear waters.

7. To the Highlands (south) - Midgard Adverture

If you want to see the highlands, but don't have the right car to go there yourself? The superjeeps of Midgard will take you there. You get to enjoy the view to the max and get to hike around some of the most secluded areas.

8. To the highlands (north) - Askja

On the other side of the country, you can also drive into the highlands. There you can visit Askja, one of the many active (but noit spewing lava at the moment) volcanoes in Iceland. After an intense drive, you get to a walking trail and it still takes about 45 minutes to hike to Askja. But it is worth every minute.

9. Lava Show - Reykjavík

During your stay in Reykjavík, you might experience some rainy days (it happens a lot there). And then it might be a good idea to try this and the next tour (FlyOver Iceland). At the Lava Show you get to see, and feel, real lava flowing into the room. If you are interested in volcanoes and lava, this is definitely something you need to do!

10. FlyOver Iceland - Reykjavík

I would recommend doing this tour at the end of your trip to Iceland. After you've seen parts of the country, it might be grea to see those places from above as well. I really did nit expect much from this tour, but I loved it!
