These are a network of limestone caves and rock shelters overlooking Bridgewater Lakes, several wind turbines in the distance and views across Discovery Bay Coastal Park. Excavated in the 1970s, they revealed deposits dating back over 11,000 years, including shell middens and earth ovens. You can access the The Tarragal Caves via a short but steep 50 metre walk from the road below.

How to get there:

Park your car just off Bridgewater Lakes road opposite the entrance road to the Bridgewater Lakes and Boat ramp.

Elise's Tips:

Looking up at the caves from the road you'll see a quite distinct and bigger cave entrance but once you've finished exploring that one I'd recommend heading more to your left and climbing up a few rocks into the smaller ones (at your own risk and to your own ability of course).
