Since Mostar is a very hot city, it's nice that this accommodation has a pool too. Plus: The apartments all have their own little kitchen, so you can drink your coffee in peace and quiet before meeting other guests or heading out to the city.

🇬🇧 Yes, the Old Bridge in Mostar is so iconic that I don't have to tell you, you should visit it. So I just want to give you some additional tips😊

• For the most magical view, make sure you walk Maršala Tita street from Bazar Kujundžiluk towards the Old Bridge – the most gorgeous vista will open up in front of you!

• As Mostar is a really touristic city, I recommend you come to the bridge after 5pm or before 9am. Yes, there is no need to be there at 6 in the morning (except if you want to) because most day tourists come by bus from Croatia and don't arrive in town before 9 or 10 am.

• The bridge is very slippery so try to not come with shoes that have zero profile, otherwise you'll just slip and fall (speaking from experience)

• In summer, you'll see a lot of men standing on the bridge in bathing shorts – it is because they jump down! Cliff diving and also diving from the bridge is a centuries old tradition in Mostar and locals normally collect some money from tourists and when they reach 50 BAM, they will jump into the river. The jump is challenging and they often jump on their food or sometimes use an old technique that is called "swallow" – called like that because they stretch their arms and it looks like they are flying through the air. If you get the chance, have a look at a jump, it's super impressive!

• Den schönsten Blick hast du, wenn du vom Bazar Kujundžiluk aus die Straße Maršala Tita in Richtung der Alten Brücke entlangläufst!

• Da Mostar eine sehr touristische Stadt ist, empfehle ich dir, nach 17 Uhr oder vor 9 Uhr zur Brücke zu kommen. Du musst nicht um 6 Uhr morgens dort zu sein (außer wenn du möchtest), da die meisten Tagestouristen mit dem Bus aus Kroatien kommen und nicht vor 9 oder 10 Uhr in der Stadt ankommen

• Die Brücke ist sehr rutschig, also versuch, nicht mit Schuhen zu kommen, die kein Profil haben, sonst wird es eine Rutschpartie (ich spreche aus Erfahrung)

• Im Sommer sieht man viele Männer in Badeshorts auf der Stari Mos – weil sie von der Brücke springen! Klippenspringen und auch das Brückenspringen hat eine jahrhundertealte Tradition in Mostar und die Locals sammeln etwas Geld von Touristen und wenn sie 50 BAM erreichen, springen sie in den Fluss. Der Sprung ist herausfordernd und die meisten Springer springen auf die Beine oder verwenden manchmal eine alte Technik namens „Schwalbe“ – so genannt, weil sie ihre Arme ausstrecken und es so aussieht, als würden sie durch die Luft fliegen. Wenn du die Möglichkeit hast, schau dir einen Sprung an, es ist super beeindruckend!

🇬🇧 The tradition of jumping from the bridge goes back to the 1600s and legends say that a boy must jump off the bridge to become a man. The bridge jumps are an important part of Mostar's local culture and traditions and you can jump off the bridge yourself too!

All you have to do is become a member of the Mostar Diving Club that has its headquarters right below the bridge in the Halebija tower. The jumping fee is 20 Euros and another 10 Euros are charged for the membership in the club. You will do practice jumps from a 10 meter platform with an experienced diver as your guide and the team will provide you with a wetsuit.

I didn't do the jump myself but wanted to include it for all you adrenalin junkies out there, just so that you know you can do it yourself! 😃

🇩🇪 Die Tradition, von der Brücke zu springen, geht bis ins 16. Jahrhundert zurück und Legenden besagen, dass ein Junge von der Brücke springen muss, um ein Mann zu werden. Die Brückensprünge sind ein wichtiger Teil der lokalen Kultur und Traditionen in Mostar und du kannst auch selbst von der Brücke springen!

Alles, was du dafür tun musst, ist, Mitglied im Mostar Diving Club zu werden, der seinen Sitz direkt unterhalb der Brücke im Halebija-Turm hat. Die Sprunggebühr beträgt 20 Euro und weitere 10 Euro werden für die Mitgliedschaft im Club erhoben. Du machst Übungssprünge von einer 10-Meter-Plattform mit einem erfahrenen Taucher als deinem Guide und das Team stellt dir einen Neoprenanzug zur Verfügung.

Ich habe den Sprung nicht selbst gemacht, wollte ihn aber für alle Adrenalinjunkies da draußen erwähnen, damit ihr wisst, dass ihr es selbst wagen könnt! 😃

🇬🇧 Being a super touristic place, it can be challenging to find good and authentic restaurants in Mostar, especially in the Old Town. This one still offers high quality food, good Bosnian coffee and a Bosnian atmosphere paired with friendliness and hospitality. Many other restaurants are, unfortunately, tourist traps.

Dieses hier hat hochwertiges Essen, guten bosnischen Kaffee und eine bosnische Atmosphäre aus Freundlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft. Viele andere Restaurants sind leider Touristenfallen.

🇬🇧 Mostar is so busy with tourists, it can be overwhelming. So you just want to get away and enjoy a view in private and quiet. This is a beautiful spot to do exactly that – you have a beautiful view of the old town but no crowds. Just beware: The river has a very strong current and is terribly cold (at only 9 degrees in the summer, Neretva is the coldest river in the world!) so swimming is not recommended!

🇩🇪 Die Menge an Touristen in Mostar kann schon mal überwältigen. Da will man einfach weg und die Aussicht irgendwo in Ruhe genießen. Dieser Platz ist perfekt dafür – du hast einen schönen Blick auf die Altstadt ohne Menschenmassen. Aber Vorsicht: Der Fluss hat eine starke Strömung und ist richtig kalt (mit nur 9 Grad im Sommer ist die Neretva der kälteste Fluss der Welt!), daher ist das Schwimmen nicht zu empfehlen!

🇬🇧 The legend says that this bridge has actually been built as a trial run for the iconic Stari Most. The Crooked Bridge belongs to the architectural complex of the Old Bridge and the Old Town in Mostar, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

🇬🇧 This abandoned ruin used to be a bank, now people just call it the "sniper tower" as snipers where shooting on civilians from the structure during the Bosnian war. Now, graffiti artists use the building for their messages about equality, peace and reconciliation. Many people also climb the building and take pictures on the top, even though the entrance is prohibited. I, personally, think that it is disrespectful to make a playground out of a place that brought death and destruction to the city but of course that is completely up to you to decide – I am not judging people that do climb up as long as they behave carefully and respectfully.

🇩🇪 Diese verlassene Ruine war früher eine Bank, jetzt nennen die Leute sie einfach den "Scharfschützenturm", da Scharfschützen während des Bosnienkrieges von hier aus aus auf Zivilisten schossen. Heute nutzen Graffiti-Künstler das Gebäude für ihre Botschaften über Gerechtigkeit, Gleichberechtigung, Frieden und Versöhnung. Viele Leute klettern auch auf das Gebäude und fotografieren von oben, obwohl der Zutritt verboten ist. Ich persönlich finde es respektlos, aus einem Ort, der Tod und Zerstörung über die Stadt gebracht hat, einen Spielplatz zu machen, aber das liegt natürlich ganz bei dir – ich verurteile niemanden, der den Sniper Tower erklimmt, solange er sich vorsichtig und respektvoll verhält.

Actually, even nowadays, Mostar is still a divided city with a Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) and a Croat part. Some children have never been to "the other side" which is actually incredibly sad. The Croatian sculptor Ivan Fijolić gave the statue to the city as a symbol of solidarity. But why Bruce Lee? The Youth Group "Mostar Urban Movement" that lead the project said Bruce Leer was far enough away from Bosia and Herzegovina that nobody can ask what he did during WWII and the recent war and that he is a symbol for the good guys winning. He is the one things that all inhabitants of the city have in common. Or not: Because he is neither Bosniak nor Croatian or Serbian.

Manche Kinder waren noch nie auf der "anderen Seite", was unglaublich traurig ist. Der kroatische Bildhauer Ivan Fijolić schenkte der Stadt die Statue als Zeichen der Solidarität. Aber warum Bruce Lee? Die Jugendgruppe „Mostar Urban Movement“, die das Projekt leitete, sagte, Bruce Leer sei weit genug von Bosnien und Herzegowina entfernt, dass niemand fragen könne, was er während des Zweiten Weltkriegs und des jüngsten Krieges getan habe, und dass er ein Symbol für den Sieg der Guten sei. Er sei ein Symbol, das alle Bewohner der Stadt gemeinsam haben – oder eben nicht: Da er weder Kroate noch Bosnier noch Serbe sei.
