The Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel is one of Osaka’s most famous landmarks, standing 112.5 meters tall on the waterfront near Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. Opened in 1997, it was once the world’s largest Ferris wheel, and even today offers unbeatable views of Osaka Bay, Mount Ikoma, Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, and on clear days, even Mount Rokko and Kansai Airport.

Ride experience

  • The ride lasts around 15 minutes, with spacious cabins that comfortably seat 6–8 people.

  • Glass-bottom cabins are available for an extra thrill, giving you a clear view of the city and the wheel’s structure beneath your feet.

  • At night, the wheel itself lights up with vibrant patterns and colors, making it as photogenic from the ground as it is from the top.

Prices

  • Adults (13+): ¥900

  • Children (3–12): ¥500

  • Infants (under 3): free
Special cabins (glass-bottom) may cost slightly more.

Hours

  • Generally open 10:00–22:00 (last entry 21:30).

  • Hours may vary slightly by season or weather, so it’s best to double-check if you plan an evening ride.

Best time to visit

  • Daytime: clear panoramic views of the bay, bridges, and surrounding mountains.

  • Evening/night: a romantic ride with the city and harbor lights spread out below; the wheel’s own illumination is also spectacular.

Location & access

  • Right next to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and the Tempozan Marketplace, which makes it easy to combine with a visit to the aquarium, shopping, or dining.

  • Closest station: Osakako Station on the Chūō Subway Line (about 5 minutes’ walk).

Practical tips

  • Cabins are enclosed and air-conditioned, so it’s comfortable year-round.

  • The line can get long on weekends and holidays, especially for the glass-bottom cabins — go early or off-peak if you can.

  • Great spot for couples, families, or anyone wanting a memorable view of Osaka’s bay area.
