The Green Pleasure Pier on Catalina Island is a historic landmark extending 407 feet into Avalon Bay. Built in 1909 to ease harbor congestion, it gained its signature green color under the direction of P.K. Wrigley, quickly becoming a colorful centerpiece of Avalon life. Today, it serves as a vibrant hub for fishing (no license needed), diving, boat rentals, and casual seafood dining right above the water.

Photographically, the pier shines in the morning or afternoon sun, when its green paint pops vividly against the blue sea and sky. The views toward the hills and the charming boats moored nearby offer plenty of composition opportunities. With a bit of luck, you might even spot sea lions lounging or swimming near the docks. Though compact, this pier blends island nostalgia with scenic charm—perfect for relaxed shooting and soaking up coastal atmosphere.
