Wat Phra Thong which means 'Golden Buddha Image Temple' is a very old temple with a big legend, the kind of story that irresistibly attracts people. It's not very big or impressive, but the first thing everyone wants to see is the famous half buried golden Buddha. Wat Phra Thong is located near the Thalang District Office, around 13.5 km south of Phuket International Aiport. If you're heading toward the airport, a street that leads to the temple is on the right-hand side (you have to make a U-turn if driving). Look for a small sign before reaching Thalang and follow the street to the wat’s parking area.
