Built with deep red bricks, a perfectly symmetrical façade, and ornate decorations, it’s a building that instantly catches your eye. The most impressive part is its 75-metre-high belfry. With its square base and elegant lantern, the tower houses a carillon that still plays melodies across the city. Since 2005, the belfry has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, standing proudly as a symbol of the city’s resilience and beauty.

The town hall is open to visitors, and a guided tour is definitely worth it. Walk through the elegant reception halls, admire the stained-glass windows, and discover artworks and architectural details that tell the story of Calais. The wedding hall, with its impressive wooden ceiling and rich decorations, is one of the highlights. For a panoramic view over Calais and the coast, climb (or take the lift up) the belfry to the top. On a clear day, you can even see the white cliffs of Dover!
