Piazza del Popolo is one of the most majestic squares in Rome, located at the northern entrance to the historic center. In the centre stands Obelisk Flaminio surrounded by a large fountain and two twin churches, Santa Maria in Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli. The square is an important crossroads of the city, with the via del Corso that flows into it, and is also the access point to the hill of the Pincio*, which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the capital.
