If you’re spending a couple of days in Tunis, take a taxi to the coast to visit what many call the “Santorini of North Africa,” Sidi Bou Said. Most locals will argue that that’s not an apt nickname as Sidi Bou Said was painted in that signature white and blue BEFORE Santorini, but the nickname has stuck. This small area of Tunis features the most stunning and picturesque buildings, amazing street food, cute cafes, and a lot of good shopping. This is yet another great place to shop for souvenirs, but keep in mind you are likely to pay MUCH higher prices here than anywhere else in Tunis. Once you’re ready for a change in scenery, you can simply walk down to the Sidi Bou Said beach for a relaxing swim.

Staying in Tunis for a couple of nights? Sidi Bou Said is one of our favorite Tunis neighborhoods to stay in.
