🔎 Description:
The hike from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock is a stunning ridge trail near Lucerne that offers breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps. Starting with a ride on the steepest funicular in the world, hikers can then take a chair lift up to the ridge and enjoy a scenic 2-hour hike along the trail.
The trail per se is not very technical but I've seen many people trying to hike it with sneakers which obviously is inacceptable. There are some steep places where you absolutely don't want to slip! At the end of the hike, you'll reach the Fronalpstock viewpoint with a restaurant and playground, making it a perfect spot to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings before heading back down to Stoos.
Note that this has become a very popular hike, so if you want to do it, I recommend getting there early or late and if possible on a weekday. If you want to go on a friday or saturday, note that they offer sunset rides at fronalpstock, so it's possible to start the hike at 4 (Last cable car to Klingenstock departs at this time in the high season) and then go see the sunset at Fronalpstock and ride down the chairlift in the almost dark. For me, this was the perfect way to experience the path with less tourists as barely anyone knows about this.
