Abbotsford, the former home of 19th century novelist Sir Walter Scott, is a place full of imagination and wonder. Not only can visitors explore the historic house (which is beautifully preserved) and its extensive gardens (Scott was an avid gardener and the walled gardens are incredible!), but those looking for something morecan explore the trails of the estate's woodland and riverside walks.
Definitely worth a visit either as a day trip from Edinburgh, or if passing through the Scottish borders / driving up from England.
