Heart Lake is a picturesque backcountry lake located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Nestled at the base of Mount Sheridan, it offers stunning views and excellent fishing opportunities for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, lake trout, and mountain whitefish. The lake is surrounded by the Heart Lake Geyser Basin, which features geysers and other hydrothermal features. Anglers can enjoy fly fishing or using artificial lures, with restrictions on catching cutthroat trout and whitefish. Access to the area is closed between April 1 and June 1 annually to protect the bear population.
