Restaurante Casa do Rei in Lajes das Flores is a hidden gem serving up experimental German cuisine with a unique twist. Owned by a German couple who fell in love with Flores and decided to stay. They only use organic ingredients, mostly from their own garden, and you can even buy some to take home. From tomato and pineapple soup to fried trigger fish fillets with pineapple sauce, the chef here knows how to surprise and delight your taste buds. I really enjoyed the fish with almonds, the chutney, and the friendly service.
