This secret hiking path on Vereda da Eira do Mourão is my treasure, not found in guidebooks. The adventure begins with a climb to Levada do Norte, followed by a scenic 2 km stretch until a stairway leads to Vereda do Espigão. The ascent is challenging, but the rewarding mountain views make every step worthwhile. And the descent – a thrilling 2772 steps back to Ribeira Brava, a journey of endurance, beauty, and pure exhilaration.
