What could be better than witnessing the sunrise in Madeira amidst the mountains at a secret spot where you’re guaranteed to be the only one?

This place, situated at an altitude of over 1750 meters, is called Pico Alto Encumeada. It’s not marked on maps, yet it’s just a 20-minute walk from the Achada do Teixeira parking lot. Closer than the highest point in Madeira, Pico Ruivo, but with equally breathtaking views.
