Move around Zurich without wasting money

Walk when it is beautiful, use trams when it makes sense, and check the zones.

Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich is small enough to enjoy slowly, but connected enough to move without stress.

My favourite way to do it is simple: take a tram to your starting point, walk by the lake or river, swim somewhere, and use transport again when you are tired. Around Bellevue, Seefeldquai, the Old Town and the lake, walking is part of the experience.

If you want to explore more, check Züri rollt. You can rent a regular bike for free if you return it the same day, usually with an ID and a cash deposit. It is a great option if you want to move along the lake without spending much.

You can also use bike-sharing options like PubliBike if you prefer something app-based and flexible. Scooters can work for short rides, but I would not use them for the whole day. Zurich is too beautiful to rush.

My tip: save money where it makes sense. Walk the pretty parts, use trams for distance, rent a bike when the weather is good, and spend your money on one coffee, one swim or one drink somewhere worth it.
