Fox Glacier Viewpoint / Te Kopikopiko o Te Waka is a very easy roadside stop just off State Highway 6 that gives wide, uninterrupted views of Fox Glacier and the Southern Alps from a safe distance. There is no proper hike here, just short paved paths and viewing areas, and you only need about 10-15 minutes to look around. To get there, turn off onto Cook Flat Road from Fox Glacier township and drive until just before the Clearwater Creek bridge, where you’ll find the car park. It’s free, suitable for all fitness levels, and a good stop if you want glacier views without committing to a longer walk or a paid tour.
