Panglao is where most people stay as there are heaps of big resorts there and excellent diving.
There are epic beaches there as well - Alona Beach is the main one and we loved White Beach too.
That said, it wasn’t our favourite part of Bohol. It felt built up and busy compared to the peaceful countryside where we stayed (around the Chocolate Hills).
If you’re into resort-style stays and snorkelling, it might be worth a few days. Otherwise, we’d say spend more time inland or head onwards to Siquijor!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Alona Beach is the main hub, lined with bars, restaurants, and dive shops.
Dumaluan Beach is the most popular spot for snokelling/diving.
Hinagdanan Cave is another famous spot, with a natural underground pool
Accommodation ranges from budget hostels to high-end resorts.
Crowds and traffic are common, especially in peak season.
TO ACCESS
Panglao is directly connected to Tagbilaran by a bridge, only 20-30 mins away.
The main airport (Bohol–Panglao International) is here, so it’s the island’s entry point.
Easy to reach by flight from Manila or ferry from Cebu.
