Most people stay in Panglao (the main resort-like area), but we LOVED staying inland. It was more peaceful and felt more local. 

We stayed at Lhoyjean Garden Hostel and can’t recommend it enough! It’s simple but the host, Lhoy, is a legend and made it feel very special. They also toured us all around amazing spots in Bohol.

Panglao felt overdeveloped and busy for us. But if you do want to spend a few days there, here are some recommendations from our mates who’ve stayed there:
