Magpopongko is one of the best places to swim in Siargao. When the tide is low, crystal-clear pools form between the rocks, making it a natural swimming pool.

It’s great for jumping, floating around, or just chilling in the shallow water. It’s a different vibe from the surfing and the lagoons.

We loved it but you need to go at the right time (low tide), otherwise it can be dangerous.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Natural pools only visible/swimmable at low tide.

  • Good for jumps off the rocks into deep sections. (Ask a local guide where do not just jump)

  • Gets busy with tour groups, especially on weekends.

  • Bring reef shoes, rocks can be sharp.

TO ACCESS

  • About 45 min to 1 hr from General Luna by scooter or tuk-tuk.

  • Entry fee around ₱50-₱100 per person last time we checked.

  • Check tide times before you go, it’s only worth visiting at low tide.

  • Often combined with a visit to Tayangban Cave Pool nearby.
