The Pantheon is one of the most powerful places in Rome: ancient, sacred, perfectly balanced and unforgettable once you step inside. From the outside it is impressive; from the inside, it feels almost impossible.
Why it matters in this itinerary
After the theatrical energy of Trevi, the Pantheon gives the day a moment of stillness and awe. It is one of the rare places in Rome where architecture, silence and light create an emotional experience.
How to get here from Fontana di Trevi
Walk from Fontana di Trevi to the Pantheon.
Approximate walking time: 10 to 12 minutes.
Do not take a taxi or bus. This walk through the historic center is part of the experience.
Insider tip
Do not only photograph the outside. Go inside, stand under the oculus and look up for a few quiet minutes. If it rains, the atmosphere becomes even more magical because the rain falls through the opening in the dome.
Estimated time
30 to 45 minutes.
Travel tip
This is a good moment to slow down. The Pantheon should not feel like a quick box to tick.
