We stayed at Ristijärven Pirtti – Camping in Ristijärvi, a clean and well-equipped campsite that caters to both caravanners and cabin-goers, all year round. The summer season officially kicks off at Midsummer, so in early June it was wonderfully peaceful. The friendly owner greeted us with a smile and gave us a tour of the main building and the grounds.
🛏️ Accommodation
We stayed in a newly renovated cabin with its own sauna. It had everything a traveler needs: a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and of course, the sauna. Just note that you’ll need to bring your own bed linen and towels.
In addition to cabins, there’s a lovely campground with space for caravans, motorhomes, and tents. The service buildings were spotless and well-maintained.
📍 Location
The site was calm and perfectly located – just a 2-minute drive from the center of Ristijärvi in the direction of Paltamo. Set right on the shore of Lake Iijärvi, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset and even had a little fishing session – the boys caught us a delicious evening snack.
✨ Extras
A brand-new lakeside barbecue shelter was a great place to hang out.
There's a fun playground in the middle of the campsite where our kids spent hours playing.
The staff can cook meals on request, and starting from Midsummer, the on-site restaurant in the main building serves food daily.
The sauna can also be rented separately upon request.
If you’re ever passing through Ristijärvi – or planning a stop on purpose – I warmly recommend staying here!
