Belvédère de la Carelle is one of the most spectacular viewpoints along the Route des Crêtes near La Palud-sur-Verdon in southeastern France. From here, you get a dramatic bird’s-eye view of the Verdon Gorge, with its sheer limestone cliffs and the turquoise river winding far below.
Perfect for photographers, this spot is especially magical at sunrise, when low-hanging clouds often fill the canyon. It’s also a great place to watch griffon vultures glide overhead or climbers tackle the vertical rock walls below.
Easily accessible by car, the viewpoint is just a short walk from a roadside parking area. Early morning or golden hour visits offer the best light and fewer crowds. Bring your camera and a healthy respect for the drop!
