Tunturiaapa is a beautiful swamp/mire area located in Pyhä-Luosto National Park. It is surrounded by boardwalks. At the edge of the mire, there is Tiaislaavu (fireplace) which has a campfire site and an outhouse toilet. This is a popular destination for hiking both in summer and winter. In winter, there is a snowshoeing/mountain biking trail.

From the Tunturiaapa nature trail, you can easily reach Isokuru and Pyhänkasteenputous. So, you can visit all these sites at the same time. (Except in winter, when Isokuru is off-limits due to avalanche risk, but you can visit the Isokuru rest place.)

Starting point: The easiest way to start your hikes to the national park is from the Pyhä-Luosto Nature Center Naava (Rexby point is placed there), where you can get guidance on different routes. There is a large parking area where you can leave your car and start your journey. In summer, when the snow has melted and it is dry land, you can possibly drive your car to the end of Parkkitie street, turning next to Huttuhippu and driving through the ski slopes to the nearest parking lot, from where you can access the national park the quickest.

NOTE: Please never make a fire, even at an official campfire place, if there is a forest fire/wildfire warning in effect! Always check the warnings before lighting a campfire.

Tunturiaapa on Pyhällä Pyhä-Luoston kansallispuistossa sijaitseva kaunis suoalue, jota kiertää pitkospuut. Aapasuon reunalla sijaitsee myös Tiaislaavu, jossa nuotipaikka ja huussi. Tämä on suosittu retkikohde niin kesällä kuin talvella. Talvella täällä kulkee lumikenkäily/maastopyöräilyreitti.

Tunturiaavan luontopolulta pääsee helposti myös Isokuruun ja Pyhänkasteenputoukselle. Eli nämä kaikki kohteet voi käydä samalla kertaa. (Paitsi talvella Isokurun kuruun ei ole asiaa lumivyöryjen takia, mutta Isokurun kodalla voi käydä.)

Lähtöpiste: Helpointa on aloittaa retket kansallispuistoon Pyhä-Luoston Luontokeskus Naavasta (Rexby-piste laitettu sinne), josta saa opastusta eri reiteistä. Täällä on iso parkkialue mihin voi jättää myös auton ja lähteä liikenteeseen. Kesällä kun lumet on sulaneet ja on kuivaa, voi auton mahdollisesti ajaa myös Parkkitien päähän eli kääntyä Huttuhipun vierestä ja ajaa laskettelurinteitten läpi lähimmälle parkkikselle, josta pääsee kansallispuistoon nopeiten.
