On the edge of a completely frozen lake, surrounded by the quiet of Finnish Lapland, LakeLodge Kiehinen feels like a refuge suspended in Arctic silence.
The landscape is endless: the lake stretches all the way to the horizon and, at night, it becomes one of the most spectacular places to watch the Northern Lights, shining here with incredible intensity, free from any light pollution.
I stayed in one of the cozy cabins nestled in the pine forest, warm and perfectly integrated into nature. But the property also offers stunning glass igloos facing directly the lake, ideal for those who want to sleep under the Arctic sky.
The village is small and intimate, almost hidden among the trees, and also features a traditional kota hut, where you are provided with picnic baskets. We cooked reindeer sausages over the fire, in a truly authentic and social atmosphere.
It’s one of those places that stays with you, where nature is not just a backdrop… but the true protagonist.
