Castello Brown is one of the best viewpoints in Portofino, located above the village and offering incredible panoramic views over the colorful harbor, the coastline, and the surrounding hills. The short uphill walk to reach it is well worth the effort.
The castle itself has a historic feel, but the main highlight is definitely the terrace and gardens, where you can enjoy some of the most iconic views in the entire area. It’s a perfect spot to take photos and really appreciate how beautiful Portofino is from above.
Compared to the busy harbor below, Castello Brown feels much more peaceful and gives you a chance to escape the crowds for a while. It’s also a great stop if you’re exploring Portofino on foot or combining it with a visit to the nearby trails in Parco di Portofino.
If you’re already in Portofino, this is one place you shouldn’t miss—it adds a completely different perspective to the village and makes the visit even more memorable.
Tip: Go either early or later in the day for softer light and fewer people, especially in peak season.
