Manarola is one of the most picturesque villages in Cinque Terre and, in my opinion, an absolute must-visit on the Italian Riviera. Famous for its colorful houses perched on the cliffs above the sea, it feels like a postcard brought to life.
Despite its small size, there's plenty to enjoy. Wander through the narrow streets, browse the local shops, relax by the waterfront, or simply find a spot to admire the incredible coastal views. The village is especially magical around sunset, when the warm light makes the colorful buildings glow.
One of the highlights is the famous viewpoint overlooking the harbor—it's the perfect place to capture the iconic photo of Manarola. If you enjoy walking, you can also explore the scenic trails connecting the Cinque Terre villages (when they're open).
Manarola can get very busy during the summer, so I recommend arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon for a more relaxed experience. Even with the crowds, it's easy to see why it's considered one of the most beautiful places in Italy.
Whether you're visiting for just a few hours or spending the night, Manarola is a destination that truly lives up to the hype and deserves a place on every Italy itinerary.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes—the village has plenty of steep streets and stairs, but the views at the top are absolutely worth the effort.
