Motel Gilău is one of those places that surprises you the moment you arrive. While it also offers accommodation, I personally don’t recommend staying overnight here—the rooms are not the main highlight of the location.
The real reason to come is the restaurant.
Set right by the lake, the dining area offers a truly spectacular view over the water and surrounding nature. Especially during summer, it becomes an incredibly relaxing spot where you can enjoy a long meal while watching boats, greenery, and calm lake reflections.
The food is solid, with a mix of traditional Romanian dishes and classic options that work well for a casual lunch or dinner. It’s not a fine-dining experience, but it’s consistent, comforting, and pairs perfectly with the atmosphere.
On weekends, the place can get quite busy, especially due to private events like weddings or celebrations. Even so, there is usually a dedicated area for regular guests, so you can still enjoy the view and the relaxed setting.
Overall, it’s a great stop if you’re exploring the Gilău–Tarnița area and want a scenic, easy-going place to eat and unwind by the water.
