Blue Falls of Costa Rica is a stunning waterfall park about 2 hours from San José in the mountains of Costa Rica. The reserve is famous for its bright turquoise waterfalls surrounded by lush rainforest. Several trails lead to different waterfalls and viewpoints, including steep stairs down to the river canyon. It’s one of the most unique waterfall spots in the country and perfect for a half-day nature adventure.
withing the Blue Falls you can explore 5 waterfalls and a natural blue pool (check each of these in this same guide):
Te pezcuntle Waterfall
Las Gemlas Waterfall (The twins)
The Blue Pools
La Celestial Waterfall (The Heavenly one)
La Turquesa Waterfall (The Turquoise one)
La Pintada (The painted one)
Local tip: Visit early in the morning on a sunny day—the sunlight makes the water appear much more vivid blue, and you’ll avoid the bigger crowds. The place is closed all sundays. The waterfalls might not be as light blue during rainy season as for summer. (See my Travel Tips in my other Costa Rica Guide for when to come to CR)
