Getting around Elba

A car gives you the most flexibility on Elba, particularly if you want to visit smaller beaches, hilltop villages and different parts of the island in one day.

Public buses connect the main towns, and additional Marebus and shuttle services operate in several municipalities during the summer. However, connections to remote beaches and trailheads may be limited, so always check the current timetable before setting off.

Some coastal roads are narrow and winding, especially between Marciana Marina and Marina di Campo and on parts of the eastern coast between Porto Azzurro and Cavo.

Travelistas tip: Do not plan too many stops in one day. Distances may look short on the map, but the winding roads often make journeys longer than expected.
