La Fonda del Tío a cozy, greasy spoon of a place. The type of restaurant that has never changed and never should. They make hearty, homecooked traditional dishes like fresh pastas and stews.

But what put them on the map is their world famous milanesa napolitana. TasteAtlas included this dish as the best milanesa in the world in 2022 and the restaurant overall as one of the best 150 in the world. These lists are always a bit debatable and arbitrary, if you ask me, but it is a fact that this is the best milanesa I've ever had.

TIPS: Go hungry. This milanesa serves two, we shared and still had leftovers. Go early and get in line before they open to get a seat for the first service. People line up here and Argentines are slow diners. You don't want to be waiting outside while they eat, take my word for it. That said, the two floor dining room is huge, if you go before they open you will get a table.
